District Governor Steve Ivory challenged all clubs in District 6900 to find a way to honor heroes in their communities this Rotary year, and we happily accepted that challenge! In a nod to our CPR/AED training project, our club opted to share our appreciation for the cardiac care nurses and care teams at both Wellstar North Fulton and Emory Johns Creek hospitals. Both of these hospitals have been a huge support in our efforts to train North Fulton citizens in CPR and AED use, contributing to our current total number of 893 trained citizens! Our club provided sub sandwiches and members created (mostly) healthy snack boxes for the cardiac teams at both hospitals. All were gratefully received!
There was a touching moment at the Wellstar North Fulton location when our own member, Richard Matherly, met several of the cardiac nurses who cared for him in May 2024 when he was recovering from a cardiac arrest. (If you are wondering how they can remember a specific patient over a year later, just know that Richard is one in a million and if you are lucky enough to meet him, you'll never forget him!) We feel so fortunate to have such caring medical providers in North Fulton and appreciate all they do for our community!
