Volunteers Needed
Pack & Distribute Produce

Our monthly produce distribution returns this month in a big way, including our bi-annual grow bag distribution, and we’d love for you to join us! These events are a great way to connect with your fellow Rotarians, give back to our community, and have some fun while doing it.

However you support this Big Impact Project, your time and energy will help make a meaningful difference for those in need in our community.

Thursday, Sept. 18 –
Sort & Pack at Second Harvest Food Bank
11:30 a.m.
Help us sort and pack fresh produce for families in need. We'll pack more than 20 pounds of vegetables for each family that receives a package.

Friday, Sept. 19 –
Load Carrot Grow Bags at TCCHS Ag Greenhouses
After school – Connect with Chandler Giddes if you can help

Help us load planted carrot bags into trailers for distribution.

Saturday, Sept. 20 –
Produce & Grow Bag Distribution at Weston Park
Set-up begins at 7:30 a.m.
Distribution starts at 8:30 a.m. (or as soon as set-up is complete)
Join us bright and early to help set up and distribute fresh produce, grow bags, and seed packs to community members. It’s a rewarding way to start your weekend and see the direct impact of your efforts.

Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or trying it out for the first time, we’d love to see you there. Bring your energy, your smile, and maybe a friend or two! Let’s make a difference—together.

September
Coat and Blanket Drive Ongoing

Don't forget: Rotary is collecting new and gently used coats and blankets to support the Thomas County Food Bank’s Coat Closet.

Please bring coats, blankets, or cash donations to the meeting, drop your donations off at Brigit Smallridge’s office or send money to Brigit via Venmo @Brigit-Smallridge. Cash donations will help the organization buy coats and blankets at discounted prices. Even a $5 or $10 donation can buy a coat or blanket.

Rotary has supported the Coat Closet almost since the launch of the Thomas County Food Bank about 20 years ago. The Coat Closet is open from mid-October through early December during regular food bank hours. Volunteers schedule Food Bank clients to “shop” for coats for their families. Children are offered coats annually and adults can get them every two years. Blankets are distributed as needed. All clients meet income and circumstance qualifications for food assistance.

Typically, the coat closet provides more than 1,000 coats and several hundred blankets every year.
