Rotary Reception at Studio 209 - A Very Special Time

Thomasville Rotarians enjoyed a reception at Studio 209 on Wednesday, November 6th. Thank you Fran for coordinating this event to honor Kim Walden as the newest Arch Klumph Society member. Thank you Michelle Arwood for allowing us to use this wonderful facility for our group.

President Kim Walden newest Arch Klumph Foundation Society member!

District Governor, Jim Squire, Polio Zone Coordinator Bob Hagen, Past Rotary International Director Robert Hall visited our club on November 7th to recognize President Kim as the newest Arch Klumph Foundation Society member.

Pictures from President Kim's visit to Rotary International

Named after the sixth president of Rotary, the Arch Klumph Society recognizes the Rotary foundations highest tier of donors. Arch C. Klumph joined the Rotary Club of Cleveland, Ohio in 1911. He was the 1916-17 Rotary president, the organization’s sixth. Addressing the 1917 convention in Atlanta, Georgia, he eloquently promoted the idea of “endowments for the purpose of doing good in the world.”

That year, the Rotary Club of Kansas City, Missouri, made the first gift, of $26.50, to the fledgling fund. When the endowment had grown significant enough to require administrators to manage it, The Rotary Foundation was born, and Klumph was selected as one of its first trustees.

Paul Harris Fellow +8

Yesterday our Rotary District Governor Jim Squire presented Sandy Davis with a Paul Harris Fellow +8. Sandy is the mother of President Kim Walden. Kim wanted to recognize her mother with the highest honor a Rotarian can bestow on a non-Rotarian. You can recognize someone special in your life and it helps the Foundation!

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

Rotary established the recognition in 1957 to encourage and show appreciation for substantial contributions to what was then the Foundation’s only program, Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Advanced Study, the precursor to Ambassadorial Scholarships. The number of Paul Harris Fellows reached the 1 million mark in 2006.
