Recap
Club Attends District Training

On Saturday, about a dozen Thomasville club members attended District Training in Columbus. After a welcome from Columbus mayor Skip Henderson and updates from the district governor and the district governor elect, the team attended workshops about a variety of topics important for planning the 2025-2026 Rotary year.

Workshop topics included:

  • Rotary's Action Plan
  • Public Image Essentials
  • How to Be An Effective Facilitator
  • Serving Youth and Young Adults
  • Membership and Smart Growth
  • Foundation: Community Grants and Global Grants, International Service and PolioPlus
  • Managing Volunteers
  • AI and Social Media Mastery
  • Strategic Planning and Succession Planning

The half-day programming was concise, but set the team up well for success in 2025-26 and beyond.

Andre Marria, pictured at right, and Fran Milberg (not pictured) were among several past district governors in attendance for the training.

PCOM South Georgia: Training the Doctors of Tomorrow

On Thursday, April 3, the CEO of PCOM South Georgia, Dr. Marla Golden, will give an overview of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, So…, in Moultrie. The college was founded in 2019 to establish a home for medical education in Southwest Georgia with a strong focus on rural health care for this region. According to the Georgia Board for Physician Workforce statistics, the Southwest Georgia region has a critical need for physicians, and studies show that physicians educated and trained in a region are likely to remain in the area to practice medicine.

Dr. Golden was named dean of the osteopathic medicine program at PCOM South Georgia in January of 2024 and is a 1988 graduate of PCOM. Dr. Golden practiced emergency medicine in different settings from rural to urban for many years and also owned and ran an integrative pain medicine practice for more than 20 years.

Come to Rotary to learn more about PCOM South Georgia and its impact on rural medicine and the region.
