Power of Matching Makes Even More of a Difference

Education is one example of Foundation power. A reading child can question. Deception is harder. Most hate is taught to a mind that lacks anything better. Education crowds outs hatred.

Health is another example. Health enables education and productivity. Clean water allows children regular school attendance. They work together.

Matching Power

Through our Annual Fund, PolioPlus and their matching programs, a gift multiplies into many times its size.

  • Annual Fund: $10,000 becomes $36,000. 3.6x — a 260% increase.
  • PolioPlus: $10,000 becomes $30,000. 3x — a 200% increase.

Club Members Challenging Each Other

A Roswell Rotarian recently challenged club members to match his $500 PolioPlus donation. It was met with $2,500 from four other members, to make $3,000.

With the Gates match: $3,000 x 3 = $9,000 for PolioPlus. In one meeting.

Dollars mean health and education. Those mean productivity, gratitude, hope, international goodwill, and peace.

Tax-Advantaged Giving

  • Qualified Charitable Distribution: IRA holders age 70½ or older can donate up to $111,000 per year (2026 limit) directly to a charity, tax-free. It counts toward the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), reducing taxable income and potential IRMAA (Medicare premium surcharge) triggers.
  • Low-Cost Basis Stock Donations: Owners of low-cost basis securities held more than one year can gift shares directly to the Foundation, receiving full credit for the market value without triggering capital gains taxes.
  • Gift Annuities: The Rotary Foundation receives the gift and pays the donor a lifetime income, directly. The entire gift goes to the Rotary Foundation. The gift is tax-deductible, adjusted by the present value of the lifetime income benefit.
